 Punk Carter is one of the cutting horse industry's icons and most respected members and "activists". He is a past President of NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association), and has been an NCHA Director for over 30 years. He was inducted into the NCHA Members' Hall of Fame during the Futurity in December of 2002.
Punk has been featured in a number of national TV and Magazine Advertisements for NCHA, (National Cutting Horse Association) Strongid Wormer, and other products he endorses and or invented, including his own bar-b-q sauce! For Punk, cutting is literally "all in the family". His family, including four generations, claim cutting as a beloved hobby and 3 are in the 'family' business. Punk's father, John Carter, (NCHA Riders Hall of Fame, NCHA AAA Judge) who Punk credits as one of his biggest mentor's, and his brother, Roy and daughter Caimey are all successful cutting horse trainers.

It is not unusual to go to a cutting in Texas's area 24 and see Punk, his father John, and numerous daughters, son in laws, and grandchildren all competing together! Father, John, AAAA Judge at age 86, still trains and shows cutting horses. Brother, Roy AAAA Judge, cutting horse trainer, and PBR stock contractor. Daughter, Cassye, NCHA World Champion at age 9, and in the Top 10 many times. Daughter, Colleen, NCHA Youth Top 10 many times. Daughter, Caimey, NCHA Youth Top 10 many times.
